About my work:
Parallel to our pursuit of truth, we tear apart chaotic conceptions of the world in order to build them up into a structured reality. Within this system of control, I question where the individual lies in their perceptions of the self. Poststructuralist Judith Butler maintains that “personal identity – the sense that there are answers to the questions ‘who am I? and ‘what am I like?’, - is an illusion.” The idea that our minds create illusion as a means to realization is one of uncertainty. Yet we can view the inconsistencies in human perceptions and notions of truth as forming a shape to life; an ebb and flow analogous to that of nature. After all, I hardly see humans- with our many flaws- as the tower of knowledge or strength that we sometimes think we are.
